Life Church

Meet David

Who has influenced you the most?

My youth leaders and in particular Andrew Crawley, who used to attend Life Church, and always gave brilliant messages that were very practical.

What piece of wisdom would you pass on to a child?

I remember Andrew Crawley saying, “In order not to be tempted, get as far away from the situation as possible, get out of the room, take yourself away, and change the situation."

The unlikely interest that engages your curiosity?

I love folk music particularly Scottish Gaelic music.  I listen to BBC Alba mainly because of the music.

The treasured item you lost and wish you could have again?

There are many things that I can think of from my childhood but nothing specific.

What event altered the course of your life and your character?

The first time I walked up a mountain – it was such a blissful, perfect moment – the whole of creation was displayed.

What song means the most to you?

Music in general means a lot to me.  It touches my soul, more than anything else.  John Miles said it best: ‘Music was my first love and it will be my last, music of the future and music of the past. To live without my music would be impossible to do, because in this world of troubles my music pulls me through.’

Do you have an unfulfilled ambition?

I’d love to visit Machu Pitcchu in Peru, otherwise known as the "Lost City of the Incas".  I’d like to walk there, maybe as part of the Inca Trail.

How long have you been attending Life Church?

I have been attending this church for over 35 years.  I enjoy Life Church, particularly the intimate, family-like atmosphere.
