Life Church

Meet Tom and Abby

Meet Tom

I was young and my parents were having a difficult time. Two Christians from the local church knocked on our front door and invited the family to church. We attended a few Sundays later, where God moved and changed my parent’s life forever. They were saved by Jesus’ grace and church became part of our life.

I remember spending time in Sunday school being taught the truth and stories of Jesus. It was ran by passionate people who sacrificed time for me and other young people. It didn’t take long for me to see the truth of Jesus for myself and would spend time reading and praying, God was pursuing me and stirring up my heart for him.

By about 15 I had experienced God’s love and desire for good in my life. My heart was captivated and I knew what it was like to have a personal relationship with God, who was now my Father, friend and saviour. I was also aware of my sin; Romans 3:23 ‘For all have sinned and fell short of the glory of God’.

Now at 27 my life has not always been easy, illness and a hurtful relationship has brought struggles but God is faithful and I have been healed and blessed with a wonderful wife Abby. Through my struggles it has drawn me closer to God and kept me depending on him.

I can’t do life on my own. My sin is too great but Jesus has conquered our sins through his death and longs for a relationship with everyone. I long that you would know how relentless God’s love is for you and the peace, hope and joy for those who believe. As John 16:33 says ‘Jesus has conquered the world.’

Meet Abby

Hi, my name is Abby and I am 25 years old and married to Tom. I was brought up in a Christian home who supported me in my Christian life and helped me with my faith.

There was never a time in my life when I felt far away from God or thought that he wasn’t there. I became a Christian when I was 10 years old. I had been having dreams about books in the bible and the characters seemed to be talking to me and I wondered why. Then when I was at Sunday School the next week we were talking about heaven and hell and I felt God was calling me to him. I prayed that Jesus would forgive my sins and be in charge of my life and I said sorry for all the things I’ve done wrong. This led me to being baptised when I was 18.

I have been really encouraged in my faith through Christian camps, Soul Survivor, Momentum, weekends away and going to home groups. At each step I have learnt more about God and become closer to him from it.

Being a Christian means everything to me and I am so thankful that God has made me so unique and loved so much by him.  very day I am thankful for all the blessing God has brought into my life and how he has guided me so far, which helps me with day to day struggles and things that bring me down. I look to God in these times of trouble and remember he does everything for our good.

A song which I want to live out through my life has these lines in it:

‘For this is what I’m glad to do
It’s time to live a life of love that pleases You
And I will give my all to You
Surrender everything I have and follow You.’
