Meet Jackie

For years I knew there must be more to my relationship with God and it was not until someone came alongside me and explained about being born again, being filled with the Holy Spirit and having a personal relationship with God that all became clear! Until then my faith was something like being on the edge of the crowd where Jesus is in the middle, trying to see and get closer but the view is obscured with no clear path to get through to the front.

But once I gave my life to Jesus, everything changed. Words from the Bible became alive as if the person who wrote them (Jesus) was sitting next to me speaking to me. It was like falling in love, and how exciting it was! That was in 1988.

In 1992 I was really seeking to find a church that would help me find God again. He clearly gave me the picture of Life Church and after questioning God’s choice twice, I obeyed. Within 3 years, my husband, my niece and my sister had all become born again Christians.

God has directed my life, at times in a very obvious manner. In 2008 the job I had as Finance Director of Kingdom Bank had become very demanding, making my life out of balance. I needed to change jobs, but I was a bit fussy on what job I would do if I left! I spent a few months praying that God would show me the way. God showed me very clearly over the months, bit by bit, giving encouragement, confirmation that I should leave the bank, that God was doing a new thing, that I had to step out in faith trusting God for His provision. Towards the end of 2008, God told me exactly – to become self-employed providing accountancy services to churches and Christian charities. That was scary – working on my own with no idea how to go about getting clients. But I did it, and I know that God was my provision totally for the 9 years of running my own business. So many times I saw God at work for me.

I am now kind-of retired, but as far as serving God is concerned – never retired.
